Optera praised for our approach to health and safety and property protection

OpteraOptera were recently instructed to complete works to take down and replace a retaining wall within a rear garden of a property in South East London. With no external access to the rear, Optera set about designing temporary protections to the house to minimise the impact of conveying spoil through the house. The skilled tradesmen, set about boarding the floors and walls to protect them from knocks and debris from plant and materials transferred through the property. In addition, PPE and a site file detailing the risk assessments and other site specific details are located at the point of site entry along with the site register. The policyholder had expressed concerns about the scale of the project and the potential impact this would have on his property during the course of the works. He needn’t have worried as Optera are used to working in difficult access and problem sites and took the matter in our stride. Due to the terracing of the garden, it was necessary to employ the use of specialist spoil shoots to transfer the rubble from the upper garden, down to the lower level and through the house to the skip at the front.
Welfare facilities were located at the front of the Property and the entire site protected with herras fencing and signs warning the wider public of the dangers of this live site. Our client was so impressed That they have requested pictures to use for future Training and Optera were thanked for their Conscientious approach to health and safety. Whilst Optera have a reputation for innovation and cost saving repairs, we always take the fundamental responsibilities for the safety of our staff and other stakeholders affected by our works very seriously.
